Home Business

December 4th, 2008 at 01:48 am

I'm actually proud of myself because my Avon business is on its way of becoming somewhat successful. I had two customers order from my Avon website this week!! Which is exciting because they weren't family Smile

This is my third time with Avon, and I truly believe that timing is everything. The other two times were just horrible because I was too busy with school, the kids, and dealing with my husband's deployment. But now, I'm more motivated to making this a success.

I'm naturally a shy person which is weird because i'm a Leo, but I'm not sure how to approach people about Avon and whatnot. I'm not sure if any of you do Avon, Mary Kay, or even Stampin' Up!, but I was wondering if y'all can offer tips on how to promote the business and get more customers?

my friend is into Avon. Your lucky because its a very recognizable business and you already have customers out there- you just need to sync up with them. My friend drops the catalog off at office buildings, businesses with her contact info. She learned quickly where she was getting phone calls from and targeted those areas.
Then she just works off a few regular customers.

My neighbor used to get orders by dropping catalogs off at the neighbors next to the mailbox, but not in it.

I hooked up with an Avon sales person because she had a sign in her front yard, "Ask me about Avon." One day while out for a walk I knocked on her door, got a catalog and became her customer. Back when I was working away from home, Avon catalogs were just left in break rooms. I saw lots of people thumbing through them preparing orders. Seemed like a passive way to get sales that even a shy person could handle.

I've always wondered-- are you charged for the paper catalogs?

Is there incentive for a customer to order from you or your website rather from Avon's website directly?

For the paper catalogs, you pay $5.75 for 10.

When a customer orders from an Avon representative or their website, they can receive discount on certain products, free shipping (on their website), and whatever else the representative wants to offer. If you order from Avon's website directly, they don't provide those types of specials.
